How will the University of Wyoming deal with the heat and humidity of south Florida for its game Saturday at Florida Atlantic?
Trainer Bob Waller said he has been educating players about staying hydrated, and what they should and shouldn’t do to avoid dehydration and other heat-related illnesses.
He said he will push Pedialyte for the players to drink leading up to the game. Pedialyte is more for young children, but several athletic trainers use it for athletes when dealing with dehydration.
Waller also will have players consume Alka-Seltzer because he said carbonated fluids get into the system of players faster.

This will be one of the longest road trips UW has taken in recent years at about 2,200 miles.
But there have been other long ones in recent years:
–It was about 1,900 to Gainesville, Fla., when UW played at Florida in 2005
–About 1,700 to both Charlottesville, Va., and Syracuse, N.Y., to play Virginia and Syracuse in the same season in 2006.
In the days when UW and Hawaii were in the Western Athletic Conference, it was about 4,000 miles from Laramie to Honolulu.
The longest trip the Cowboys ever took to play a football game was in 1985when it played Texas-El Paso in Melbourne, Australia, to end the season. That was about 14,500 miles from Laramie.

Russ Arnold is one of the four team captains for the Cowboys, and he showed it Wednesday.
During a team period in practice, one of the offensive linemen in the rotation was struggling. He was missing snap counts and assignments.
After about the third or fourth miscue, Arnold got into the player’s face and read him the riot act.
That player didn’t screw up again.
Being a team captain doesn’t always mean high praise and kind words. Sometimes you have to get mad to make a point.
Arnold did just that.
