What to go see?

If you’re a UW and/or high school football fan, you have a lot to choose from in terms of what to check out this weekend.

The high school football championships begin Friday in Laramie with the 1A and 2A games. Saturday the 1A six-man, 3A and 4A title games. What a great thing having those games at War Memorial Stadium. Hopefully they are there for a long time.

The UW men’s and women’s basketball teams open their seasons Friday. Men at home against South Dakota State (yes, South Dakota State is a Division I team) and the women at Denver. The Cowgirls play at home Sunday against Montana. The Lady Griz will be the top non-conference team UW plays this season, other than maybe Oregon.

A quick note on the UW men’s team: Don’t expect it to sign anyone in the early signing period. Coach Heath Schroyer likes to hold a scholarship if he can. Looks like he will do that.

The Cowboys wrestling team is home this weekend.

And of course, the football team is in San Diego Saturday night for a big game.

What do you see and what do you pass on? Give me your thoughts. Would love to hear from those who catch them all. That would really be a die-hard fan.

Lots to see in Friday’s paper in terms of prep and college sports on our local front.

Also, our picks of the high school title games, as well as some college and pro football games run. We do this every Friday. We have a great panel of guest pickers, but I would like to hear from you. Let me know your picks.

Heading to San Diego Friday. Will have my five things to watch for the SDSU game and my MWC picks.
