Picking the MWC

All conference games this week, and Colorado State gets the week off:

No. 22 BYU at New Mexico: Really? This game could be played any where and it wouldn’t matter. New Mexico is beyond bad and Wyoming fans saw first hand what BYU can do to teams below them in terms of talent.
This one is over before it begins. BYU 45, New Mexico 7

UNLV at Air Force: The Rebels’ hopes for a bowl game and to save coach Mike Sanford’s job end Saturday at the Air Force Academy. The Falcons’ triple-option will roll up a decent amount of yards, but once again it will be their defense that is the difference. Expect at least two touchdowns from Air Force via its defense or special teams. Air Force 33, UNLV 10

No. 16 Utah at No. 4 TCU: The 16th-ranked team in the country is a 20-point underdog?! Wow. TCU is good and boardering on great. But even though Utah is not like Utah of last year that finished undefeated and No. 2 in the nation, it won’t get trucked at TCU like most expect. TCU wins and perhaps handily. But Utah’s defense will keep it from getting ugly. TCU 27, Utah 13

Wyoming at San Diego State: Two programs that appear to be getting better with a coaching change. Both are coming off blowout losses at home. In a game like this I’m going to stick with the home team. It’s the last home game for the Aztecs, which is usually a big deal at most schools but most don’t care in San Diego. But SDSU coach Brady Hoke does care and that small intangible will be enough for the win. Plus, I’m not sure if UW’s secondary can cover SDSU’s receivers. SDSU 26, UW 14.

Let me know what you think of these games, or any others in college football this weekend.
