Possible opponent news

We know Wyoming is going to a bowl game.

We expect it to be the New Mexico Bowl.

If it is, the likely opponents are Fresno State or Nevada out of the Western Athletic Conference.

Here are links to stories on those teams that may interest you.

UW practices for the first time Thursday since the Border War victory over Colorado State. See Friday’s paper for more on that, and see Thursday’s paper for my column on some misconceptions about bowl games.

i dont know much about fresno state except the coach is great. ive seen nevada play a few times and they are very good with that pistol offense. they might be too much for our young defense.

Fresno has one of the nation’s leading rushers in Ryan Matthews. I agree with you that coach Pat Hill is one of the good ones in the game. Father-in-law is former Utah coach Ron McBride and Hill knows how to find talent. Nevada is scary good with that Pistol offense. It had three 1,000-yard rushers but one is out for the rest of the season with a broken toe.

Your article about Wyoming maybe losing money in the bowl game is garbage. Its not always about getting money. Its about exposure and luring in new recruits and winning a damm trophy. I’ve always loved you articles but that one is straight BS.

The article never said Wyoming would lose money or that the important thing about a bowl game is getting money. It stated that it wouldn’t lose money. I agree with your points, and in the end no matter what people think about it bowl games are about the players and coaches.
