News of Muojeke expected Friday

There’s plenty of speculation out there, but Wyoming men’s basketball coach Heath Schroyer told me Thursday evening that results of an MRI on the left knee of sophomore forward Afam Muojeke will be known Friday morning.

Muojeke injured the knee in Wednesday’s 81-66 loss at No. 14 Brigham Young. It happened about midway through the first half and it appeared from video replay that it was a non-contact injury, even though Muojeke tried to foul BYU guard Tyler Haws who was going up for a layup.

There’s a good chance a few people already know what the MRI revealed. Muojeke was schedued to have one Thursday afternoon. And as someone who has undergone eight knee surgeries on both of his knees one knows when some damage is done.

I hope I am wrong but I doubt we will see Muojeke play the rest of this season. I’m not a doctor, and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night to all of a sudden make me as smart as a doctor, but all indications lead me to think Muojeke did some significant damage — and more than a bruise which he suffered during the Denver game back in late November.

We should know more Friday.

Whether the injury is minor or major, it appears Muojeke will miss at least some playing time. UW’s next game is Wednesday at home against Utah. In your opinion, who needs to step up for the Cowboys if Muojeke is going to be out?
