Pokes lead by three at halftime

After a slow start, Wyoming leads Air Force 29-26 at halftime here at Clune Arena.

The Cowboys made only three of their first 11 shots and trailed by as many as nine points.

But a 10-0 run, which included eight points by sophomore point guard JayDee Luster, gave UW its first lead at 19-17 with 7:58 to play.

Luster and junior forward Djibril Thiam both have eight points, and freshman Desmar Jackson has seven.

Air Force made its first three 3-pointers of the game, but finished the half 4 of 14.

Was unable to attend this game but have attended several others.

Is it just me but it appears that Sylla needs a lot of work. He doesn’t run the floor well for the defense Coach wants to play, is rearly in position for a rebound or a block and just appears to be a step slow.

I am sure a he is good person but was coach Schroyer sold “a bill of goods”? Did anyone work this kid out before offering him a scholarship?

    What is your opinion?

      Hi Richard,

I agree Sylla needs a lot of work. He had foot problems before he came to UW and according to coach Schroyer he still has some of those issues.
Even with that, he certainly isn’t as polished as the coaches made him out to be during the preseason. I don’t think Schroyer got sold a “bill of goods” I just think he’s not that good — at least right now.
If he was, he wouldn’t have transferred from and SEC school.
I’m not ready to give up on Sylla and the coaches are not either. But I think we may have to wait a while to see if signing him was worth it.

      Thanks for the comment!
