Wyoming reportedly has received a verbal commitment from 6-9 forward Brian Gibson from Delgado Community College in New Orleans.
Gibson leads the junior-college ranks in rebounding with 14.6 in 21 games.
Gibson would be the third verbal commitment UW has received, joining Western Nebraska Community College shooting guard Francisco Cruz (6-4) and Escondido, Calif., high school guard Joe Hudson (6-1).
If Gibson joins UW next season, he would join senior-to-be Djibrial Thiam (6-10), juniors-to-be Adam Waddell (6-10) and Boubacar Sylla (7-2) and sophomore to be Amath M’Baye (6-9) as as post players.

Five things to watch for in Tuesday’s Wyoming-Air Force game in Laramie:
1. Size matters? Waddell didn’t play in UW’s 70-63 loss at Air Force on Jan. 30, and Falcons coach Jeff Reynolds seems concerned with the 6-10 Waddell and the 6-10 Thiam in the lineup at the same time. Don’t know if that will happen and how effective Waddell will be with his bad ankle and knee. UW needs Waddell to play well. Seems like when he does, its chances of winning increase.
2. One-man show: Freshman guard Desmar Jackson scored nearly half of the Cowboys’ points with 31 in their 74-64 loss at Utah last Saturday. Jackson is the only consistent scorer UW has, but he can’t do it alone. At least one or two other players need to step up and make some shots.
3. Play smart: Air Force makes teams guard defensively, and that often results in back-door cuts and layups. There will be those in this game, but UW must guard smart in this game and not get into foul trouble. It doesn’t have the depth to have its key players be in foul trouble.
4. Dialing in from downtown: We’ve talked numerous times about UW’s shortcomings shooting the 3-pointer. UW was 1 of 13 at Utah. This team has to make at least four or five 3s to have a chance.
5. Senior moment: Senior forward Ryan Dermody will be playing his last home game for the Cowboys. Like most of the current players, Dermody has had an up-and-down season. This would be a great time to be up, and a nice way for him to finish in front of the home crowd. Dermody can shoot the 3. It would be nice if he can make a few of them.

Robert: I saw that Gibson’s JC Coach labeled him a “project”. Have you heard what are the drawbacks of this young man? What are his drawbacks?
The only drawbacks I have heard is that he just hasn’t played a ton since high school. He went to work to help support his mom and family out of high school, then once in junior college he was in a car accident that kept him out of action. Nothing debilitating, but it sounded like doctors were afraid of internal injuries so they were careful with him. He knows the American game unlike some of UW’s current foreign players, but I just think he needs to play more. Plus, I don’t think offense is his strength at this point. But in terms of UW’s rebounding woes, that’s where he is badly needed — in my mind.
