Terry leaves UW football team

University of Wyoming senior running back Darius Terry has left the football team, but remains in school and plans to graduate in May.

Terry was a team captain last season and started the first three games. But he finished with only 34 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns. He finished his career with 50 carries for 160 yards and two TDs.

Terry was third on the depth chart entering spring drills behind sophomore Alvester Alexander and true freshman Nehemie Kankolongo. Terry injured an ankle in last Thursday’s scrimmage and didn’t return. It was the same ankle he hurt during winter conditioning.

Terry told me last week he had no thoughts of not playing his senior season despite graduating in May.

Alexander and Kankolongo are the only two running backs on scholarship UW has on its roster, and Kankolongo is out the rest of spring with a knee injury.
