University of Wyoming offensive guard Nick Puetz has left the team for personal reasons, it was learned on Thursday.
A cell phone number for Puetz was no longer in service, and UW coach Dave Christensen offered no further comment Thursday.
Puetz enrolled at UW in January from Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College, and took most of the starting snaps as the starting left guard during spring drills.
Senior Jack Tennant is the leading candidate to replace Puetz, but according to UW’s post-spring depth chart senior Sam Sterner will move from right to left guard and Tennant will play on the right side.

That stinks, how bad is that going to hurt the offensive line and does anyone know what is left the Cowboys program?
The loss of Puetz, I think, hurts. He had been the starter since about the first full week of spring drills and looked as good and solid as any lineman they had.
As a result they moved Sam Sterner, an experienced senior, from the right to left side to replace Puetz. Senior Jack Tennant is now at right guard.
Don’t know why he left and Christensen wouldn’t comment. He wasn’t happy about the whole thing, which leads me to beleive that something happened from between the spring game and now. If the coaches had some sense of this they wouldn’t have given him all those reps as the starter.
Christensen runs a hard nosed program and I think that as long as he is here this sort of thing will happen every now and then. I do believe that this program can either recruit enough talent or raise the level of talent currently in place to soften the blow. I guess if you can’t handle the heat it is best if you get on out of the kitchen! Good luck to him but we will be fine
