Wyoming-TCU leftovers

Some leftover quotes from Wyoming’s 31-20 loss to TCU on Saturday.

“This year was a different mindset. We expected to win. We came into this game thinking we could win. At halftime we knew we could win.” — senior linebacker Brian Hendricks. UW lost the previous three games to TCU by a combined score of 144-17.

“The majority of it was missed tackles. We were in position and didn’t wrap up. They have a good trio of running backs and a powerful offensive line, and when you play a team like that you have to wrap them up.” — coach Dave Christensen on TCU running for 390 yards.

“They told me just to keep my head up. They said it was a good hit.” — true freshman cornerback Blair Burns on being called for a personal foul on a hit above the shoulders.

“We didn’t hold up long enough. We did at times, just not enough.” — Christensen on the play of the offensive line.

“I think what took the air out of was that long run. I think that took a lot of momentum from the defense. That shifted the momentum their way. If we could have held them down that series, I think the outcome of the ball game could have been different.” — senior safety Tashaun Gipson on the 74-yard run by TCU running back Waymon James in the fourth quarter that moved the ball from the TCU 18-yard line to the UW 8 and set up the Horned Frogs’ final touchdown.

“I’m not worried about missed tackles. “I’m a little bit disappointed in myself. I missed quite a few tackles out there. I put that on myself.¬†We have to comeback, wipe this slate clean and come back and get ready for Air Force That’s a huge game.” — senior defensive end Josh Biezuns

“No excuses. You have to give them credit. They have great players and made great plays. We have to wrap up and make the play. That’s why we’re here. Unfortunately we had way too many missed tackles.” — Hendricks

  1. I think that Wyoming is coming into crunch time we need 2 of 4, I think that this team has played well enough for the fans to try and reach down just a bit further into their pockets and see if they could make it to at least one of the three remaining road games. Air force has tickets listed for as little as 5.00 in their “overlook” sections in U1 and U13 and 10.00 for their “scout” (?) promotion this week. CSU always seems to have a 4 for 40.00 or similar deal closer to the Wyoming game date. I hope that the New Mexico game can get up to the 25,000 mark at the minimum come on fans get out and support this young team and maybe push them into a bowl game this season.

    • After just under 18,000 for the TCU game, Jon, I am leery that the New Mexico game will draw even close to that. But I hope it does.

    • Jon, thanks for the tip! Just purchased my tickets at $5!
Go Pokes! Beat AIR FORCE!! (we’re due!)
