Shyatt likes what he sees early in practice

Just talked to Wyoming men’s basketball coach Larry Shyatt, and this is what he told me about his impressions of the Cowboys’ first few days of practice.

“The most striking thing is how hard these guys have played as a group,” he said. “Watching tape of them I thought we played very hard and very smart, and that’s two really good ingredients this early in the year.”

Shyatt said the health of the team is good. Senior guard Nathan Sobey has battled a stomach bug, but Sobey said Wednesday he was feeling better. Junior walk-on guard Jack Bentz tweaked a hamstring, but won’t be out for a long period of time.

I am working on a story about Sobey, who Shyatt told me this summer has worked as hard as anyone on the team over the summer. See Friday’s Wyoming Tribune Eagle and Laramie Boomerang, and log on to for more on that.
