Updated weights to 2016 UW football roster

Wyoming released its latest roster Wednesday night with updated heights and weights. The previous roster UW had out was around late June to early July.

Not a lot changed in terms of heights, but here are some of the more noticeable weight differences.

#Junior college transfer in 2016

Some quick notes/thoughts: UW’s summer lifting and conditioning program really helped the newcomers, but their previous weights dated back to signing day. … On paper, and even by looking at them, the Cowboys are bigger along both lines. They’re not the biggest team in the Mountain West, but progress is being made. … Found it interesting that redshirt sophomore starting quarterback Josh Allen was listed at 230 earlier this summer and is now 222. The rigors of camp will do that. Still, Allen looks pretty good at 6-foot-5. … A lot of players maintained their weight from the summer, such as junior running back Brian Hill (6-1, 219), senior tight end Jacob Hollister (6-4, 239) and sophomore nose tackle Sidney Malauulu (6-3, 301).

Walk-ons: UW also was able to track down specifics on its walk-on roster. There are 18 walk-ons currently in camp, including two Wyoming prep products from Sheridan — wide receiver Dontae Crow (5-9, 170) and safety Riley Sessions (5-11, 193). Both are true freshmen. … One walk-on that has made a good impression so far in camp is defensive end Mark Hall (6-2, 248), a junior from Iowa Western Community College. Don’t be surprised if he sees the field some this season. Another intriguing prospect is redshirt freshman cornerback DeAndre Watson (5-11, 187), who is from Los Angeles but transferred from Washington. … 19 more walk-ons will join the team when the fall semester starts Aug. 29. Of those 19, seven are from Wyoming — all high school players last fall.

I will be away from UW football for the next few days as I attend to some family matters. But there will be stories through the rest of the week and weekend in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle and Laramie Boomerang, and also online at wyosports.net.
