Most Memorable basketball moment: “I have two. The first is last year’s win over New Mexico at the Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas. The atmosphere down there for that event is awesome, and that game was a lot of fun to play in. The second was the come-from-behind win over San Diego State (Jan. 9). We were down double-digits with five minutes to play, but we rallied, made some huge shots and the crowd was loud and crazy.”

Most embarrassing basketball moment: “Even though it made me kind of famous, I would have to say the flip.” Waddell did a flip after a dunk in UW’s College Basketball Invitational game against Northeastern last season that made national news and even landed him on the set of the Today Show in New York.

Something about myself not a lot of people know: a“I like to read a lot but not about school stuff. I like the Da Vinci Code and things like that. I read a lot of Stephen King books.”

If you weren’t playing basketball what would you be doing?: “Probably just being a regular college student. Maybe I would be playing another sport.”

Dream Date: “I’d have to say my fiance Abby, that way I don’t get in trouble.”

If you werent’ playing football, you would you be doing …: “I really don’t know. Football has been my life since I was 7 years old. Hopefully I will get a shot at football at the next level. That’s the one thing I can always see myself doing is playing football.”

Something about yourself not many people know: “I’ve been engaged for five years now. My fiance went to Columbine High School (in the Denver area) and she’s been up here with me for four of my five years. I probably wouldn’t have made it through without her.”

How many tattoos do you have?: If you group them just three main ones. They’re on my shoulders and back, but there are a bunch of them. A lot of hours.”

Most memorable football moment: “I would have to say San Diego State this year. Getting the blocked field goal (in the fourth quarter) and changing that game and giving us a chance to win. I think that was one of the first comeback games I’ve been a part of here at Wyoming.” (UW won 30-27)

Most embarrassing football moment: “Probably Utah (in 2007) in the famous flip-off game. Us as a team didn’t really know that happened. Just getting our butts spanked that bad (50-0) is really embarrassing.”

Hardest you’ve ever hit a player: “Probably the Florida Atlantic quarterback this year (senior Rusty Smith). I came around the edge and beat a cut block and he was just sitting there holding the ball with his back to me. I got about a 10-yard sprint at him and got him pretty good.”

Who do you model your game after?: “Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings. He’s not the fastest guy in the world, but he’s a technician and he’s always doing the right thing at the right time. His work ethic  makes up for the lack of speed. I can kind of see that in myself.”
